Judge orders military to stop discharging gays – U.S. news – Life – msnbc.com

A Federal Judge in Riverside, CA today ordered a permanent injunction on the US Military’s policy of  “dont ask, dont tell”.  The US Justice department has 60 days to file an appeal.  The Log Cabin Republicans and 1 sole defendant had orginally filed the lawsuit.

Obama has said repeatedly he will not support the courts taking this action, that he wants congress to do it, however, given the recent defense spending bill with an attachment for repealing “don’t ask, don’t tell” failed due to Republican opposition, it is unlikely that Congress would do so.

It is also interesting to note that the US Military, Department of Defense – will be releasing its own plan in 2 more months on how to phase out the discharge of homosexuals in the military.
